We are looking for a skilled Audio Technician (A2) to support our audio engineering team during live events. This role involves hands-on work with audio equipment, assisting in setup, operation, and maintenance to ensure flawless audio delivery.

A Typical Day

    • Wireless Microphone Systems: Operate and manage Shure ULXD or Axient wireless microphone systems. Configure and monitor frequencies using Wireless Workbench to prevent interference and ensure clear audio transmission.
    • Microphone Placement and Management: Skillfully mic presenters and performers with lavaliers and headset microphones, ensuring optimal placement for sound quality and comfort.
    • Feedback Control: Perform system tuning and ringing out of microphones and monitor speakers to eliminate feedback, using techniques such as equalization and strategic speaker placement.
    • Audio Patching and Setup: Patch audio equipment according to detailed stage plots and input lists. Verify all connections and signal flow prior to event start.
    • Stage Power Distribution: Safely manage stage power distribution, including understanding of stage power sequencing, and ensuring that all equipment is properly grounded.
    • Equipment Testing and Maintenance: Utilize audio test equipment like signal generators and SPL meters to verify system performance. Build and repair audio cables, including soldering connectors for XLR, TRS, TS, NL8, NL4, NL2.
    • Live Sound Troubleshooting: Identify and rectify issues such as ground loops, hums, and other noise problems in live sound environments.
    • Microphone Knowledge: Deep understanding of different microphone types (dynamic, condenser, ribbon) and polar patterns (cardioid, supercardioid, omnidirectional, figure-8), and their applications.
    • PA Systems Understanding: Differentiate between active and passive PA systems, and understand their specific setup requirements.
    • Rigging Systems Familiarity: Assist with the setup and understanding of L-Acoustics and dBTechnologies rigging systems, ensuring speakers are correctly installed and secured.
    • Amplifier Load Management: Calculate amplifier loads to prevent overloading, understanding concepts such as Ohm’s Law and impedance matching.
    • Cable Management: Efficiently manage and organize cables on stage, including the use of cable slings and picks to keep the stage safe and tidy.
    • Safety Practices: Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.

Your Expertise

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years as an Audio Technician in live event settings.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with professional audio equipment, including wireless systems, mixing consoles, and signal processors.
  • Soldering Expertise: Demonstrated ability to build and repair cables with various connectors, requiring precision soldering skills.
  • Electrical Knowledge: Understanding of electrical principles as they apply to audio systems, including voltage, current, resistance, and power calculations.
  • Problem-Solving: Capable of quickly diagnosing and resolving technical issues during live events.
  • Teamwork: Strong ability to collaborate with audio engineers and other technical staff.
  • Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication, both verbal and written.
  • Physical Ability: Comfortable with physical tasks such as lifting heavy equipment, standing for long periods, and working in various environments.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to equipment setup, signal flow, and adherence to technical specifications.
  • Professionalism: Punctual, reliable, and able to maintain composure under pressure.

Pay Range

Pay Ranges from $30-$50 p/h
