Private Gala at Nasa Event Production

It is with great excitement that we share the feat of a direct collaboration between the NASA Johnson Space Center and Limitless Lights and Sound. We were reached out to by the events coordinator for the Space Center in regard to their 2022 Mars Reveal – a highly important event on their calendar for which they wanted to flex an impressive design involving a large video display and some accent lighting. Needless to say, the Limitless team crushed it and delivered quality in design and execution without missing a beat.

When first posed with the opportunity to submit a design proposal for the NASA Johnson Space Center, we moved quickly. Within hours, a ‘first-rendition’ concept and estimate had been generated and submitted to the technical team for their approval. The ground support structure, video wall, and lighting system had a few key marks that it was requested to hit. The system was intended to ‘feel’ large, even next to some of the large-scale installations already at the venue, along with covering a certain area of their floor entirely so that patrons may not see past it. Furthermore, the lighting was intended as an accent, and not a primary piece or draw of attention – but an additional tone and layer of production.

Using Capture 3D, we provided the client with renders, DWG files, and plots with markups to allow them to fit our structural design in their own CAD software to ensure proper sizing and spacing of the production. Considering all the other elements of the production and overhead projections that we did not want to block, this allowed our proposal to have absolute assurance for NASA’s technical team.

Two trucks loaded in with haste, promptly after the end of the Space Center’s standard business hours. While the need to execute the build during the weekday existed, we were able to do so without disrupting patrons or ticket cash flow for the business. Our crew of 10 AV technicians worked tirelessly into the night to complete the build without a hitch.

One small step for an AV Technician, one giant leap for mankind.

Lighting Design Truss Structure Houston

The most foundational step for a production like this is to build a solid rigging structure. Our lead rigger and production manager for this job, Edward Luna got the rig up quickly by utilizing tower lifts to raise the grid and install legs underneath it. This allowed us to pre-rig our motor points and lighting system (which was flashed and patched at worked height). These kinds of steps in the build-out process allowed for ease of installation and de-installation.
