Limitless Lights and Sound is expanding our permanent installation work across AV and lighting systems. We are looking for an Installation Manager who wants real ownership, not just responsibility without authority.
This role owns installations end to end. You will design systems, build proposals, control costs, protect margin, and lead execution through commissioning. If something is under-scoped, overpriced, or poorly designed, you are expected to catch it before it becomes a problem.
If you’ve ever been frustrated by being handed bad designs, unrealistic budgets, or unclear expectations, this role is designed to eliminate that.
Permanent AV and lighting installation projects from proposal to closeout
System design, technical scope, and buildability
Proposals, BOMs, and labor estimates
Installation margin and cost control
Execution quality, commissioning, and client handoff
Long-term reliability and serviceability of installed systems
You help define what gets sold, not just how it gets built.
Design integrated AV and lighting systems including audio, video, control, networking, power, and architectural lighting
Build clear, accurate proposals that reflect real-world install conditions
Develop BOMs and labor plans that protect margin
Identify scope gaps, site risks, and assumptions early and address them directly
Architect Q-SYS-based control systems with stability and scalability in mind
Design lighting control systems using DMX, sACN, Art-Net, and fixture networking
Ensure AV and lighting control systems are cohesive and intuitive
Validate hardware counts, licensing, network topology, and system capacity
Lead installation projects from signed contract through commissioning
Plan labor, sequencing, and coordination with electricians and other trades
Maintain schedule discipline without sacrificing build quality
Manage scope changes clearly with cost and timeline visibility
Review and redline Vectorworks drawings including AV layouts, lighting layouts, elevations, and details
Ensure drawings align with real site conditions and access requirements
Deliver clean as-built documentation that future techs can actually use
Set and enforce standards for rack builds, cable termination, labeling, and testing
Oversee copper, fiber, DMX, and network termination practices
Reject substandard work without compromise
Ensure installs are clean, serviceable, and professional
Coordinate with electricians, engineers, inspectors, and AHJs
Understand load calculations, grounding, and code requirements
Manage permitting timelines and inspection readiness
Ensure installs pass inspection the first time
Manage dealer relationships with AV, control, and lighting manufacturers
Source equipment strategically to balance performance, availability, and margin
Handle substitutions, RMAs, and technical escalations
Lead and mentor installation technicians and subcontractors
Train teams on system intent, not just task execution
Help define repeatable install workflows as the department scales
5+ years in professional AV and lighting installation or systems integration
Experience designing systems and building installation proposals
Strong working knowledge of Q-SYS
Working knowledge of lighting control protocols and fixture systems
Ability to review and redline Vectorworks drawings
Hands-on experience with rack builds and cable termination
Familiarity with permitting and inspection processes
Comfortable owning outcomes, not just tasks
CTS-I or equivalent experience
Prior responsibility for job margin or department performance
Solid networking fundamentals
This role is Austin-preferred, as that’s where Limitless Lights and Sound is headquartered and where most installation projects originate.
That said, we are open to candidates based in Houston or Dallas for the right person. We care far more about judgment, execution, and ownership than zip code. Travel between markets is expected as projects require.
Limitless Lights and Sound is built on the idea that details matter. We do not cut corners, overpromise, or hide problems downstream. Our reputation is earned by doing the work correctly the first time and standing behind it afterward.
Excellence here means:
Systems that are thoughtfully designed, not just assembled
Installations that pass inspection cleanly and function reliably long term
Documentation that makes future service easier, not harder
Accountability at every stage, from proposal through commissioning
We hold ourselves to a high standard because our clients do, and because anything less creates friction, rework, and lost trust. This role is for someone who takes pride in that level of execution and wants to be part of a team that does the same.
Base salary: $75,000
Benefits: Health benefits, paid time off, and standard company benefits
Performance-based upside: Additional compensation tied directly to installation margin and execution quality
Realistic On-Target Earnings: $85,000–$100,000+
This role is built to grow. As the installation division scales and performance improves, compensation and responsibility grow with it. Strong execution is rewarded.
