A Typical Day

  • Professional Camera Operation: Skillfully operate cameras such as Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 6K, Sony A7s, and Sony FB75, adapting to various event conditions and requirements.
  • Stabilization Systems: Set up and utilize camera stabilizers like Ronin or Steadicam to achieve smooth and dynamic shots.
  • PTZ Camera Systems: Operate PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras for remote control shooting, adjusting framing and focus in real-time during live events.
  • Camera Shading and Control: Configure camera settings to maintain consistent white balance, exposure, and colorimetry across all cameras. Experience with camera shading using CCUs is essential.
  • Framing and Composition: Frame shots according to event needs, including wide shots, close-ups, and specialized formats such as vertical IMAG for LED screens.
  • Wireless and Remote Operation: Set up and manage wireless camera systems, ensuring secure and interference-free signal transmission.
  • Battery and Power Management: Monitor power levels and manage battery swaps efficiently to prevent interruptions during critical moments.
  • Lens Selection and Use: Choose appropriate lenses (e.g., prime, zoom, telephoto) based on shooting requirements, understanding the impact of focal length on depth of field and composition.
  • Green Screen and Chroma Keying: Execute green screen shoots with attention to lighting and camera settings to facilitate seamless post-production chroma keying.
  • Footage Logging and Management: Organize and log footage accurately, providing detailed notes for editors and post-production teams.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine checks on cameras, lenses, and accessories to ensure all equipment is in optimal working condition.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with directors, producers, and technical teams to achieve the desired visual outcomes.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, especially when operating equipment in challenging environments or elevated positions.

Your Expertise

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years as a Camera Operator in live event settings.
  • Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience with professional camera systems, including familiarity with Blackmagic and Sony equipment.
  • Operational Knowledge: Proficiency in using CCUs, understanding of camera shading, and expertise in live camera operation.
  • Creative Skills: Strong eye for composition, movement, and storytelling through visual media.
  • Technical Understanding: In-depth knowledge of camera functions, including frame rates, resolutions, codecs, and recording formats.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues under pressure.
  • Physical Stamina: Capable of handling the physical demands of operating camera equipment for extended periods.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Equipment Ownership: Ownership of professional camera gear is advantageous but not required.
  • Adaptability: Flexible and able to adjust to last-minute changes or unexpected challenges during events.

Pay Range

Pay range is $45-$65 p/h
