Limitless Lights and Sound had the distinct honor of partnering with Bounce Austin to provide audiovisual and lighting production for the prestigious 40 Under 40 Awards at the JW Marriott Downtown in Austin, Texas. The event aimed to incorporate high-end audiovisual elements while maintaining a sleek, low-profile design. Our team presented renderings that perfectly aligned with the desired aesthetic of the awards show and delivered uncompromising AVL quality on the day of the event.

Since 1998, the Austin Under 40 Awards (AU40) event has honored and celebrated Austin’s emerging professionals and their mentors who are making an impact in our community. The Young Men’s Business League (YMBL) of Austin hosts a series of events, culminating with the Austin Under 40 Awards gala—a black-tie fundraising gala recognizing Austin’s top professionals under the age of 40. These individuals are celebrated in 17 categories, as well as the Austinite of the Year.

For this event, Limitless Lights and Sound focused on creating a high-end audiovisual experience that complemented the elegance and prestige of the gala. Key highlights of our work included:

Sleek Design: We ensured that all audiovisual elements were seamlessly integrated into the venue’s decor, maintaining a sophisticated and unobtrusive presence.
High-Quality Production: Utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, we delivered crystal-clear sound and stunning visual displays, enhancing the overall experience for attendees.
Customized Solutions: Our team worked closely with event organizers to present renderings that matched the desired aesthetic, ensuring that every detail was executed to perfection.

The rigorous process for the AU40 Awards evaluates applicants based on their career achievements and community involvement, making it a significant honor for the winners. Our collaboration with Bounce Austin helped create an unforgettable evening that celebrated the accomplishments of Austin’s brightest young professionals.

Laser Projections and Large Projector Screens for Ballroom Production

Limitless Lights and Sound excitedly debuted our brand-new, high-end 13,000 lumens laser projection system to provide bright, high-contrast screens for the awards show. This setup displayed slides of the winners, sponsor ads, and videos all in HD with 4K enhancement.

Key Features:

Ultra Short Throw Snorkel Lenses: These allowed us to fill the 16’x9′ screens from an incredibly short distance of only 5′ away, saving valuable room space for attendees and back-of-house operations.
Presenter Support: Presenters, after being mic’d up, were handed a DSAN PerfectCue clicker and had access to thorough notes displayed on our Samsung downstage monitor positioned off the downstage edge.
Simple ROS Switching: The run-of-show was switched using our ATEM Mini for basic cuts between video sources.

Screens: 2 AV Franklin 16’x9′ projector screens with full dress kit
PowerPoint Clicker: DSAN PerfectCue wireless PowerPoint clicker
Laptops: 2 Lenovo Legions for redundant PowerPoint presentations

This sophisticated setup ensured a seamless and visually stunning experience for all attendees, highlighting the high standards of audiovisual production that Limitless Lights and Sound consistently delivers.

Lighting Design and Execution

For the 40 Under 40 Awards, Limitless Lights and Sound meticulously curated a lighting design that not only complemented the elegance of the gala but also enhanced the overall ambiance and visual appeal. Our lighting approach involved a sophisticated blend of state-of-the-art fixtures, each chosen for its unique capabilities and aesthetic impact. All lighting fixtures were expertly controlled using our GrandMA2 on PC system, ensuring precise management and seamless integration throughout the event.

(24) Astera AX5s: These fixtures were deployed across the room for a smooth, even wash of color. These fixtures are known for their exceptional color consistency and high-quality LED output. The wireless control capabilities, managed through an ART 7 controller, allowed us to minimize visible cabling, contributing to a clean and streamlined look.
(22) Robe CycFX 8s: Provided a vibrant wash of color across the curtain and as a specialized backdrop, creating a visually striking effect that drew attention to the stage. The CycFX 8’s wide coverage and powerful output were perfect for establishing a dramatic and engaging stage environment, enhancing the overall visual experience of the gala.
(4) Martin Mac Viper Performances: These fixtures are renowned for their powerful beam output and precise gobo projections, which allowed us to create unique visual elements and accentuate key moments, particularly during musical performances. Their ability to deliver intricate patterns and rich colors added a layer of sophistication to the stage design.
(8) Prolight Eclipse FS: These versatile fixtures offered both color and intensity control, which was crucial for adapting the lighting to the auctioneer’s needs and creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. The Eclipse Fs helped maintain a cohesive visual theme while providing functional lighting for various event segments, including a custom logo displayed on the walls of the ballroom.

dBtechnologies Vio S218 Rig: Our primary audio solution was the dBtechnologies Vio S218 rig, which provided powerful and consistent low-frequency response. The Vio S218’s robust design and high-output capability ensured that every corner of the venue experienced rich, clear bass, essential for creating an immersive audio environment.
QSC K10.2 and K12.2 Speakers: We complemented the main rig with QSC K10.2 and K12.2 speakers, strategically placed to fill the venue with clear, balanced sound. The K10.2 and K12.2 models are known for their reliability and exceptional sound clarity, making them ideal for delivering consistent audio coverage across the entire space.
Shure Wireless ULXD Combo Kits: To ensure flawless audio capture for speeches and presentations, we used Shure Wireless ULXD Combo kits, including SM58 handheld mics and MX185 lavalier mics. The ULXD system’s digital transmission technology provided superior audio quality and reliable performance, critical for capturing every word and nuance of the event’s proceedings.
Audio Mixing and Control: Our Midas M32R Digital Mixer expertly managed the mix to balance the diverse needs of the event, ensuring clear and intelligible sound for speakers and engaging audio experiences for musical performances.
