1. Elation SEVEN Batten 72
Review: 5/5 The Elation SEVEN Batten 72 is surely a quality fixture, hence its hefty asking price of $3,344. With 78 individual channels and 10 pixel mapping zones, dimmer chases and color effects have never looked better. Not to mention the RGBAW + Lime/UV color mixing provides for some smooth and stunning color washes. A strong competitor to the Colorforce series at a fraction of the cost, we’ve been pleased every time we have used them. They look excellent on video as a foot light or side light, provide a flicker free operation, and don’t look half bad as eye candy either.

2. Martin RUSH Strobe CWL
Review: 3/5 The Martin RUSH Strobe CWL is a fairly sufficient stage strobe used in many concert productions. With the reflector design and 17,000 Lumen output, one could hang these almost anywhere on a lighting rig and still have remarkable xenon strobe effects. The $525 price tag lies in the middle of the road in terms of competition, but Martin’s maintained reputation of dependable quality should ensure these fixtures can perform and stay on the road.

3. ADJ Dotz Matrix
Review: 3/5 The ADJ Dotz Matrix is a unique LED strobe fixture with RGB wash capabilities. With the old-school LED design, these are eye-catching fixtures perfect for any DJ, or venue. At full-on, the 430W of LEDs can produce a hefty strobe effect with decent throw. Better yet, tune the intensity down and utilize the Dotz Matrix as a wash addition to your lighting design. While they may look nice, their rating is slightly downgraded due to the build quality of the ADJ fixtures. These units may do well for a starting DJ or Venue, but touring bands and production houses may want to go with something more rugged. That being said, the cost allows to stock up on some serious eye candy.

4. Chauvet COLORado Solo Batten
Review: 3.5/5 The Chauvet COLORado Solo Batten is a sleek batten fixture with 12 seamless square sections, providing a homogenized wash and individual control of each square cell. This unique LED layout blends color chases flawlessly and pairs very well with pixel mapping. With the all-environment operation, this intelligent batten works great for tours, theater, or television production. While the cost creates somewhat of a barrier of entry, Chauvet Professional products are becoming a staple name and are acceptable on riders and tours. Multiple filter options allows you to decide how you want to deploy this product, whether as a side light or eye candy, it can be a bit flexible. It’s somewhat of a CF2 clone in our eyes, at a fraction of a cost with a bit compromising visual edge comparatively.
Minimum Advertised Pricing: $2,400 Beam Angle: (Horizontal): 20° (Vertical): 16° (Horizontal w/filter): 37° (Vertical w/filter): 15°
Color: RGBAW | Channel Mode: 37 Modes / (1 Cell: 3, 4, 5, 8, 8, 9, 10, 13, 16) (2 Cell: 6, 8, 10, 15, 15, 17, 19, 20, 30) (3 Cell: 9, 12, 15, 21, 22, 24, 27, 30, 43) (12 Cell: 36, 48, 60, 75, 85, 87, 99, 120, 160)

5. Elation Protron 3K Color
Review: 4/5 The Elation Protron 3K Color LED Strobe is a go-to choice for us here at Limitless. Hang them high or low, these strobes leave a remarkable emphasis for any concert-oriented production. With the classic reflector design, the RGBW color palette pairs incredibly well with the 40,000 total Lumen output. Each color is sharp and rich, leaving tons of creative flexibility to place these almost anywhere on stage. You can guarantee to you will fill an entire room with light with just a few of these, and their strobe rate can really push some serious energy. Not to mention, they’re equipped with a low power mode if you’re not too savvy on running them @ 800W each. By dialing up the strobe duration, you can get highly saturated color washes, instead of only using them as a strobe. The only downside of these fixtures, is the yoke ears tend to break every now and then – but it’s an easy fix.

6. Elation CUEPIX Blinder WW4
Review: 3/5 The Elation CUEPIX Blinder WW4 is a new-school take on the classic warm white blinder that everyone recognizes. With individual control of each COB module, one can really pinpoint a desired focus and throw. This makes the fixture optimal for TV and film productions, but not limited to. Add these compact blinders to a stage rig for a surefire audience wake-up call! Extremely light, but not quite as rugged as a DTW blinder for example. They offer only warm white, and not a cool white. That being said, it’s a great budget option, especially for companies that do a lot of indoor productions where dust, humidity, and rain are not quite a concern.
Minimum Advertised Pricing: $1,160 | Beam Angle: 62° Beam / 100° Field

Review: 4/5 Clay Paky’s Show Batten 100 is an intelligent moving batten fixture with a fast 240° of tilt and wide electronic zoom capabilities, making it very suitable for wall wash and eye candy effects. The 8-bit dimmer control provides for smooth intensity and color chases that look even better with multiple fixtures connected. Not to mention the 60 pre-built color / effect macros and versatile pixel mapping, this all-around batten fixture lives up to Clay Paky’s reputation of consistent ingenuity. The only thing missing on here in our eyes is a true1 port, but you can always retrofit that.

8. Martin Atomic 3000 LED
Review: 4.5/5 The Martin Atomic 3000 LED fixture is acclaimed at a high standard, as the Atomic predecessors are widely recognizable and have been seen across countless lighting rigs throughout the years. The rich white LED luminosity and RGB aura control actually double this fixture as both a strobe and blinder, making for adequate flexibility in designing a rig. Don’t let the high asking price scare you away, as the discontinued Atomic 3000 models are always circulating and run for much cheaper. Timeless classic with an affordable power consumption – if all you need is some strobe power for your club or rig. these are awesome.

The 3 zone LED control can make for some neat eye-candy chasing effects. It’s not the most striking strobe/blinder in terms of total output, yet still provides enough versatility for any small to medium sized lighting rig.

14. Elation CUEPIX Batten
Review: 4/5 They are BRIGHT! Lighter than they look, the CUEPIX battens are all around one of the most versatile fixtures we use in designs. With the pixel-flip feature, your dimmer chases can look cohesive and mesmerizing with little work. They work great as uplight washes and sidelights as well. I’d say the only cons are the color mixing at times and the bracket space for DMX / Powercon whips. All in all, the CUEPIX battens are fun and easy to program! While they are discontinued, they are easy to get your hands on used and quite rugged.
